"The Letter" Reflection

Reflecting on my first digital imaging project I see errors and much space for improvement. That being said there are things that I feel came out stronger than others. I would say that my background's gradient painting compliments the piece well overall. It goes with the gradual opacity present throughout the work. In general my strength with the project is my gradual opacity and placement of opacity. In general it was a logical sequence that ended up complimenting the piece. As I mentioned previously there is a lot of room for improvement. I could improve on the way I placed my letters because some ends are blatant making it look a bit messy. It is also a pretty simple piece which could be improved on. There is a way to have a bit more complexity while still keeping it simple which I could have incorporated into my work. I could clean it up more because sometimes it takes a second to register that it is a flower.
This art work wasn't easy at all but certain things were simpler than others. I found duplicating the letters and adjusting their size exceptionally easy. Also, making shades lighter or toying with the opacity was a simple enough task. I understood the concept thoroughly and could perform the task quickly. I found moving the letters as it became more crowded difficult. Every time I meant to move one object another would be chosen sometimes which made it tricky. Also, sometimes getting the piece to reflect what I imagined in my head difficult because I sometimes had trouble figuring out the steps to lead me to my endgame.
I only used tools found in Photoshop to create my work. I used the typing tool to type my letters and to sometimes make the vertical or horizontal. I used the move tool to move my letters around and to change their size or angle. I used the paint bucket gradient tool to make my background a gradient from blue to white. And, I used the opacity to change the sheerness of my letters. I demonstrated the objective of this art project by using one letter and copying it and adjusting it to create an image of a flower. I took the advice of being off-center to draw the viewers eyes to the picture as a whole and not just a part of the image. If I could do this art project again I would probably toy around more with the tools to see what else I could create. I would also like to discover the untapped potential the Photoshop program has.
